I have been creating customer-centric product experiences for 15 years.

______________

Much of my time has been focused on making complex enterprise ecosystems simple to use and easy to understand.

In my life outside of work I can be found taking off on a camping adventure,  preparing for my next triathlon and spending time with my best doggo-buddy, Rux.

Design Philosophy

I am an advocate of and believer in design-led thinking and putting customer needs at the center of design and development. I believe that successful execution relies on lean, iterative and collaborative efforts from cross-functional teams. Good design and development decisions are backed by data and can continue to be measured. I know that a strong design team is able to evolve their process and adapt their approach based on the ever changing needs of a business.

Some of my tenets

  • Design is a process – not a task
  • Everyone owns and is part of the design process – not just designers
  • For design to be successful it is crucial that engineers are involved as early in the process as possible
  • Perfection is the enemy of progress (and isn’t actually possible)
  • Quick wins are always possible
  • Slow is fast and fast is slow – taking time upfront will always save time later
  • The things people say are the problem are often times not the actual problem
  • Unbiased interviewing, observation and active listening are very real skills
  • Paper and pen is often more effective than a fully functioning prototype (and much cheaper)
  • 90% of what a good product or UX designer does is never seen by end users but is just as important if not more so than the final UI
  • Data is always available
  • Good design is measurable
  • Qualitative data is just as important as quantitative data – the real story often lies at the intersection of the two
